William O’ Connell
William ‘Bill’ O’Connell is the Managing Partner of four Best Western Plus Hotels – The Stovall’s Inn, the Pavilions, the Park Place Inn & Mini-Suites, and the Anaheim Inn. All of which are located with-in the Anaheim Resort. He began working with the Stovall’s Family in 1964 before becoming an official partner ten years after. Since then he has developed, co-owned, and operated eight different properties in the Anaheim Resort Area in addition to the Doubletree Guest Suites Hotel, which he developed, and opened in March 2006. Since then, the Doubletree Guest Suites has received the “Doubletree Developer of the Year” Award in 2004, The “Pride Award” in 2007, 2008, 2009, & 2010, and the “Connie” (Conrad Hilton award) in 2009. Bill O’Connell is also the CEO of O’Connell Hotels and Hospitality and is currently working on developing the JW Marriott at the Anaheim GardenWalk, opening spring 2020. He plans to develop future properties in the Anaheim area and beyond.
An active member of the community and affiliate of numerous business-related services, William O’ Connell also served as former President for the Anaheim Hotel / Motel Association, Chairman of the Board for Visit Anaheim, Commissioner for the California Travel and Tourism Commission, Chairman of the Anaheim Budget Advisory Commission and received the Man of the Year Award, a special honor presented by the Cypress College Foundation (1995 American Awards), the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce 2007 Lifetime Achievement Award, and awarded the Best Western Chairman’s Legacy Award in October 2013.
William O’ Connell is currently a member of the Board of Directors for the Visit Anaheim, Anaheim Resort Maintenance District and the Anaheim / Orange County Hotel & Lodging Association. His other civic involvements as a member of the Board of Directors have included St. Catherine’s Academy A Boy’s Catholic School with Military Tradition, Cypress College Foundation, Anaheim YMCA, Orange County Human Relations Council and Outreach Concern, S.O.A.R., and the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce.
